In a butterfly house... I'm unable to distinguish between different Caligo such as eurilochus or idomeneus, not mentioning that probably many Google photos are mislabelled... Oh damn, a message says me that the forum exceeded the attachment space! Well I will try the other way...

Yes, caligo butterflies are pretty nifty in their own right ! I have seen them in Ecuador feeding on fallen rotting fruit and to see such a large butterfly literally on the ground and within a nets reach is amazing. They are just about the size of an English sparrow so it just boggles the senses at first sight. They are very much un-like large papilio's and birdwings which seem to float in and out of the rainforest canopy often out of reach. When those butterflies do come to flowers they seem to only do their little butterfly dance about the flowertop; only to leave within a few moments. Scarcely, leaving one enough time to even approach with net in hand.
