What can I do to get rid of them There's nothing you can really do except not parking under the trees. They either have fallen out of the said trees, or are feeding on scraps which did. Adam.

I was going to bug bomb the car tommorow in my brothers garage and not park under the tree anymore I have 4 more weeks at my parents place and then I’m moving out think that could work?

Said solution will cause more harm than perceived problem. Just let nature do its thing.

Walking ants over the precious car, that is unacceptable! I would suggest to call in the city and request heavy insecticide to be sprayed in infected areas. It will eliminate potential reappearance of ants and other crawling insects which may disturb you. It may also be wise to remove the trees in close proximity to parking spots. Those are only good for birds nesting above the cars and occasional bird droppings most likely occur on them and there is definitely no purpose of them to grow around.

I suppose Jan is on vacation now with no access to the internet 😂. Neither of those Paul. No vacation for me until next year earliest, as just too much time is "wasted" on work these days. But hopefully that "problem" will pay off in the future - that is the whole point of working a lot. Lately I'm just following things on the side line here. Wondering why you were thinking of me though.... Ohh yeah, wright! I obviously was stunned and horrified by the sheer scale of the problem that nickjcpht is facing. Its next to incomprehensible, to say the least!!!! Poor man! I know termites eat wood etc, but though I have never heard of ants being able to damage metals, especially those painted in chemically based car paints, but one never know for sure what such bugs are capable of. Obviously a beautiful Mustang is, by light years, far more important than ants! The alternative and ludicrous solution of simply moving the car a few meters, so that ants will not fall onto it, should not be explored and therefore it makes sooo much more sense to bug bomb that car - after all, ants are just brainless insects that can't find their way off this most important car, after them stupidly falling onto it. They deserve to fry in a chemical fume! Anyone interested might also try the great Stink Bug Killer that is more effective than 10 entomologists killing insects by the hundreds! The 10 entomologists we can trash in jail and fine for violation of certain laws, while 10.000 Stink Bug Killer sprays are sold today, to solve a very real problem of 5 minutes of stinky fumes in someone's home. Wonder if this Mustang is a Matchbox car as 10-15 ants apparently are able to "crawl all over" it? Or if applying the Einstein theory of Relativity, it must be some very special, huge ant species since it is able to "crawl all over it". Please help this world.... Anyone? Anybody? Trump? Jan It was getting worse as the days passed more and more began to show up it started with 10-15 and doubled each passing day as I tried moving my car to different locations in my driveway even parking on the street to allow them to move away before just bug bombing it there was no need for your sarcasm or whatever you are trying to portray here with your post I’m all for the ants they can do as they please but not on my vehicle I tried everything before I registered on this site to come and ask for help to what to do and bug bombing it is the only other option I could think of it has now since been done and they are gone. Good day

Good day So in the end of the day, the difficult solution was taken anyways.... But a aesthetic problem was solved as appearance is everything. A pesticide was used to kill absolutely harmless bugs, adding more poison to a local environment for no common sense purpose. I think that a sarcastic approach makes for a lot of fun, on a matter that is very remotely fun. Those ants would NEVER, EVER even pose any danger, threat or damage to this Mustang. They would fall on the car, crawl around a bit and drop off on the ground. They could not not ever be of any harm to a car. For that reason I do not see why anyone would even consider wasting money on purchasing a pesticide just to kill a few ants. I do know though that if just one in 326 persons in the US this year would buy and use a pesticide (or herbicide for weeds, for that matter), then 1 million people would pollute nature and drinking water, over something as simple as ants on a car. Obviously, such environment poisons do not have a adverse effect on humans, but merely on that most annoying nature that encroaches on our human lives, and thus is justified. Bugs was never around before humans. Just saying.... we have to start somewhere to end this messing up the world and ants crawling on a car does in my personal opinion NOT qualify as a valid excuse. Meanwhile amateur as well as professional scientists are required to secure various permits to kill the very same ants for their collection or research, placing this issue totally out of proportions. Like Ciervo said: Said solution will cause more harm than perceived problem. Just let nature do its thing. Jan Being a huge car guy appearance is everything actually, in this situation I have just graduated from college and will be moving out of my parents home next month to an apartment where hopefully I will never have this issue again because no trees will be present but because my only choice as of now is to park in the street away from trees The last thing I wanted to do was spend my hard earned money on products to fix this issue but this had been going on almost 2 weeks and to no avail they stayed on my car every time I walked outside the problem seemed to become more exacerbated my post to this forum was not within days of it happening I tried several harmless solutions before I went this route they may not have posed any sort of danger to me or my car but I did not have the patience to continue waiting thanks again for your input.

Writing my previous post, I thought my statement maybe would sound a bit far fetched, but apparently it was pretty much spot on. Everything in this world nowadays is no understanding of common sense and integrity. It's all about appearance and being superficial. It's how society works and politics too. No wonder this world is going down the drain. Such stuff just makes CITES on insects and the very idea of applying for collecting permits for bugs seem utterly ridiculous. Oh dear.... Jan I can’t argue with your logic I’m a car guy and you’re an insect lover your passion for bugs and things equals how I feel about my car I wont understand why you think it’s okay for black ants to make my car their playground and you won’t understand why I can’t allow it so this discussion I imagine would continue for quite some time so thanks again for your input and have a good one.

Yea, the only difference is that if no insects around the life on earth as we know would collapse and you wouldn’t be able to enjoy your car coze all humans would die off from hunger, on the other hand your Mustang does nothing good for nature at all, saying that I also have the car to move around as we have created artificial world which we live in forgetting what is important and what things are really matters. I have a hard time understanding this debate about ants and cars . If you live in the country, you live in animals and insects. Nothing to do scandal. As for me, I live in the city (Paris). On the avenue where I park my car, on the west side there are trees and on these trees pigeons: big risk of returning his vehicle studded with droppings. I park so east side! Two months ago, I was in the mountains of Provence; of course, ants frequented the parking lot. Without damage to the vehicle. In French Guiana (Relais Patawa on the Kaw Mountain), the eciton ants ( Eciton burchellii or Eciton hamatum) invade sometimes the lodge by millions. In this case, everyone (men, dogs) leave the places that are found well cleaned two hours later. Last December, still in Guiana but in another lodge in plain primary forest, a tourist complained to see ants in his room! I told him that if you want to avoid these insects better to go tourism in Nunavik or Antarctica. The problem with ants, for us insects collectors, is especially to avoid that they eat, not the car, but the butterflies harvested. That said, I still prefer ants to bedbugs and cockroaches encountered in many North American hotels, both SF and NYC. A few years ago, in Burma, it was a cobra (nāgá - Elapidae) that I found in the car. Much more disturbing than ants! Unable to expel this snake by myself, I had to ask the local tourism agency for another car. It was during the monsoon: all the plain of Irrawaddy was flooded. I stopped on a dike just enough time to take two or three pictures. Forgetting that all the local biodiversity had taken refuge in this emerged place and that the heat of the engine could attract a reptile! Here, ants near Gite Moutouchi, french Guiana, October 31, 2016 :

Hopefuly one day when we settle there for good. Paul
