I found Alexander a gentleman to deal with, he obtained some really sought after species for me at an affordable price.

For those members unfamiliar with Colias ponteni here is a photograph and excerpt taken from the other forum some 8 years ago. I've never seen it pictured in any usual book that most of us can buy or have access to so it's awfully nice when members of any forum post pictures of seldom seen or little known species.

I've never seen it pictured in any usual book that most of us can buy or have access to so it's awfully nice when members of any forum post pictures of seldom seen or little known species. there are 3 pairs pictured in Colias du Globe. There is also a pupa present which was discovered along with 2 another specimens in a Finnish museum in 2003. All collected in Hawaii, Honolulu in June 1852. Unpublished isotopes testing suggested that they really come from Hawaii rather than from Patagonia. It is well known that Hawaii suffers masive losts of endemic fauna and flora, C. ponteni/imperialis probably being one of them. where has been published ? Do you have reference of the study ... that is wonderful study

The isotopes testing was not published. Tell us more. When will it be published ? Who has done that research ? It would be a major paper in entomology so it is strange that the authors let you reveal it before their publication.

There was never the need for all the big supposed mystery/ puzzle surrounding C. ponteni, as I believe Hawaii was mentioned on the original labels, just went into extinction with many others on those islands. If it was found in the Honolulu area then no wonder it disappeared.
