Cos its most certainly a beetle.
A rather poor photo though. My guess is that its a carrion beetle another good guess is a Tenebrionid.

Well I thought it was a cockroach, but I didn't think we even had them in the UK. Does it look like one?

It is definitely a beetle, not a cockroach, but even if it was I wouldn't worry too much - cockroaches do not carry diseases.

It's a beetle of genus Dermestes, they feed on dry organic matter. Of course there are cockroaches in UK, as in any place with human cities. Appart from the "domestic" species, in UK there are also native ones in wild places. To the last message of Adam - not totally true, German cockroach (Blattella germanica) can carry diseases, the other domestic species doesn't.
