My late cat Holly always surprised me, she always liked resting on my books. We named her Holly because of her prickly nature. So move her at your peril.

You gotta watch those cats -- I have a lovely custom-made mahogany cabinet with a very smooth finish, and our kitten jumped on top of it, couldn't get traction, and dug in his claws as he slid off. Left some nasty gouges across the top.
I think this was the same cat that jumped on the desk where I spread bugs and knocked off a spreading board holding a drying series of "Thecla" coronata. Ouch.
We're catless these days - they got to be too much trouble when we travel. I always wanted to have two cats so I could name them Rothschild and Jordan. We had a Rothschild once, but he left before we could find a Jordan.
Cheers, jh
