ey all, I found this moth in Thailand and I would like to get an Id for it. I observed the whole life cycle but sadly didn't have a camera with me! This is a male, the female is creamy whiteish. They lay red eggs and the larvae are brown with small spines across their body, the larvae also have two large spines in their second segment. Hoefully this info could hel to get an Id?

I think it belongs to Psychidae but couldn't find the correct genus or species. There seem to be many similar genera and I'm not familiar with these.
You can find these in Indonesia as well. Benny

It is a Perina sp. This Genus used to be placed in Lymantriidae, but "recently" was moved to Erebidae, Superfamily Noctuoidae. The Genus seem to have 6 known species. I can not determine your specimen to species. Boldsystems place it as Erebidae; Lymantriinae; Perina The Moths of Borneo website is always a good place to start a search on SEA moths - also on Perina. Hope that helps you a bit? Jan Thanks for the Id skandinavisk, It helps more than just a "bit". I got some eggs from the females I collected, unfortunately it seems as it may be difficult for me to obtain the host. Ed

UPDATE: The difficulty in obtaining the host plant has been overcome, turns out that the host plant(Ficus) is an extremely common ornamental here. I only managed to get two eggs from the female to hatch but they have now developed into pupae. Pictures attached, the two pupae are different sizes so hopefully Im able to get more eggs for future rearing! If anyone has accesses to this species I would be interested.
