Hi all I came across an insect on the inside of my vehicle a while back, it was a wasp shape with no yellow on it, was about the size of my thumb (around 2inches or so) and an orange brown dark colour all over with thick orangy brown fur on its abdomen... this was in the uk in late summer i come across a lot of wasp nests etc during the course of my work but I have only seen this insect once before around 10 years ago one came into the house when I lived in the woods, once again mid summer... that one was a bit smaller sorry I don't have a picture I wasn't about to start waving my phone about lol I got out of the vehicle and waited for him to finish what he was doing does anyone have any idea what it might have been please?

Bumble bees do occur in the U.K. It definitely wasn't a bee I originally thought it must be a hornet of some kind but looking through google image search can't find anything to match... I'm in the south east so it's entirely possible a continental species that occasionally blows over
