Hello there, A friend of mine enjoys documenting insects that he encounters. Recently he met a caterpillar but is unable to find much information about it. It was found in the early winter morning among the clovers. My dear friend believes that it could possibly be a gum moth or hawk moth. If anyone is able to identify what type of this caterpillar/lavae is please let us know. We are located in the northwestern suburbs of Victoria, Australia if that helps a little. Here is a photo of the little fellow. He is roughly 7cm(2.7") long.
