I personnally think that species names should be descriptive of the insect patterns/locality or honouring an entomologist.
I don't like when species names "honour" a politician, a rockstar, a king and so on.
This is done just to make the buzz around a description... which doesn't seem scientific or serious to me.

I read that the fun thing is this moth occurs in California and Mexico, perhaps the scientist wanted to do something for the US-Mexican relations. And I think this moth can fly over the wall pretty easily...

Supposedly it is also named after Trump because of the blonde 'wig' of scales on the head. The author is Vazrick Nazari, a well known Lepidopterist.

Ohhhhh,,,, I heard that it was named for Trump because of it's tiny little genitalia (err... its small tarsi,,,, sorry)
John
(the joke here - if you don't get it, is that during the republican primary, some of the other candidates alluded to how small Trumps little hands were - an allusion that his aedeagus must be similarly small sized. Yes, the US primaries were nothing but a high-brow affair this year.)
(Trump assured the American public that his hands are just fabulously sized. In fact - they are the most perfectly sized "hands" in the World).
I could go on and on - but I think there was just general confusion reguarding small hands/small brains/small penises at the debates in general - I think everyone up there was deficient in at least two categories ....

It seems this is not the first taxon named after Trump. Last November a FOSSIL sea urchin was named Tetragramma donaldtrumpi.
