Hey all,
I often find it incredibly difficult (especially with papered material) to get a specimen's legs to stay in the place I want them... they just spring back to any old position they choose. This is especially problematic when I'm pinning a verso. Does anyone have any tips?

Just pull them off. Kidding! I run into this sometimes too; typically I'll position them with 2-3 insect pins at appropriate angles.

Sometimes I pull them off ( no kidding ) and glue back lowering so they are not on the way to hold pin, if possible I do same as Denny with longer pins and on the insulating foam spreading boards that is more easy as pin can be placed anywhere.

I've tried using pins, but I find the wings are often in the way of optimal pin placement. Maybe I need more patience/practice.

Butterflies got legs?! I never noticed these before, the wings always covered them.
p.S. I use boards with a groove not much wider than the body and I have a large variety of grooves. With these you just have to push the legs in and there is no chance of them showing up anywhere.

Good thing is they pull their legs tightly to the body when dying, so I don't have any problem. With the larger species I indeed didn't mount many versos.
