Splendid.
I think I prefer some other Parnassius in beauty (nomion koiwayai, charltonius...).

Gorgeous indeed - although my personal favourite is charltonius

Have you seen augustus from Burma? Rose & Weiss mention it as smaller than nominate augustus and may be a new ssp, but I've never seen it. I have a large series of aungsani from N Kachin, but none of them look like augustus.

Here's a relatively poor quality snapshot of the series of P. imperator aungsani from N Kachin. (Seingk Valley, ~4000 m., northeast of Gawai, Prasobsuk Sukkit leg. July & August 1996 & 1998) taken with my mobile phone. It should be good enough to see the variation, females in the right column. Adam.

Oh, and none of them are types, since you asked.

Thanks, wollastoni!
Unfortunately, they are not mine, as you can guess. I found them on some Japanese site (could not read a thing) time ago. Still they are great, I agree...

I found them on some Japanese site (could not read a thing) time ago. Careful when posting photos that aren't yours, you don't want to accidentally infringe on someone's copyright. At any rate, the specimen in your collection is magnificent!
