A friend of Insecterra told me that they are Prosopocoilus (Metopodontus) astacoides ssp. blanchardi Parry, 1873 ? I thought blanchardi was the Taiwanese subspecies of astacoides. You might want to verify...otherwise i can look it up.

Tough one. Looks like an eraterid inside a seedpod or similar. Like a Mexican jumping bean (look it up). There are no appendages or segments visible. Hard to imagine it jumping and the like. Insects are segmented and have 3 pairs of legs btw.
