I love everything that is related to my passion of entomology. Amongst them are modern paintings of butterflies, and especially Cymothoe paintings ! Here is a painting by Andrew Kamiti (http://www.andrewkamiti.com/) made for my Fiftieth birthday and offered to me by my friend Steve Collins from ABRI :
with some details here :
This is a gynandromorph of Cymothoe beckerie theodosia that was in my collction !
Female Cymothoe oemilius oemilius ...
This is Cymothoe hobarti hobarti as on my avatar that flies in Uganda and forests of western Kenya. You can see eggs and caterpillars at different stages on the main picture !
Then, is a painting by Martine Renard made for me representing a male Cymothoe oemilius oemilus :
and the same butterfly interpreted by Jean-Louis Verdier (http://coleoptart.com/) who has been illustrating several books and organised many exhibitions :
I am fascinated by the details of these paintings and many would take Martine Renard painting for a photograph ...
A+, Michel

Jean-Louis Verdier is better known for his Coleoptera paintings. I will open another post to show you some ... He was very much inspired by Bernard DURIN as he told me.

Outstanding butterfly art!! I feel it has been designed during the impressive research on butterflies. Well, my favorite art type is Aboriginal Art. Each of the Aboriginal Art painting conveys different messages.

I am not a well-known artist (just a beginner, actually), but I recently did a couple of insect paintings. Here's one of them:
