Nice specimens guys, as always, I've had a busy couple of days, nice and sunny but damn it's cold still so I'll put off the work in the garden for another week and I've just set this lot out... Including Stichophthalma godfreyi and one uemurai s.sp gailai, 2 lachinus helenusoides males, Graphium felixi, thule, leechi and others. Papilio helenus sataspes pairs, ascalaphus and gigon from peleng island, Pachlioptera polydorus from Ambon island, lachinus arribas from Thailand and North Vietnam. Rich

No, a friend of mine went to Bali and I told him to buy me all available stresemanni females for this research.
Unfortunately I confirm that Detani has no more good source of butterflies from West Papua (except Arfak and Biak).

These arrived yesterday and went straight into the relaxing box and I set them this morning, on the left 4 specimens of Chilasa epycides imitata from Lam Dong province and on the right Meadrusa lachinus helenusoides, also from Lam Dong province, none are A1 but are good reference specimens of these recent descoveries. I'll have better photo's when they are off the boards, I have spoke with Adam and I know he's not sure about the imitata he's seen on eBay but I believe them to be. Rich

"I have spoke with Adam and I know he's not sure about the imitata he's seen on eBay but I believe them to be."
If they are from Lam Dong, then yes they are. The problem is some of the specimens I saw recently as imitata were supposedly from "N. Vietnam", and some didn't look like imitata but that could be due to variation. Trouble is most eBay sellers don't give more than the country on the listing page, so you really can't be sure if they are correctly identified or not.
Adam.
PS. I don't usually look at eBay nowadays as I'm not buying, unless something in the banners at the top of the ICF pages catches my eye, and even then I just look.

Just ask the seller and he will indicate you the full locality. Most Vietnamese sellers on ebay have full and accurate data, especially the one that sold these specimens to Rich.
I often ask them the full data before deciding to bid or not on their Delias.

Yes, I know the Vietnamese eBay sellers provide good data for specimens. My point was that it is impossible to be sure which subspecies they are selling when just looking at the eBay item page if the page just says "from Vietnam" without a province. Many of the Chinese sellers at least indicate where the specimen came from "Ya'an, Sichuan", "Guilin, Guangxi" etc, although some Chinese data is worse than suspect. Adam.
