The largest certifiable measurement taken was reported in the last 2 or 3 editions of Guinness Book of world records. To quote them " The longest specimen on record was 10 in. (17.7 cm), and was collected in Peru in 2007." This is as big as ever I have heard. I would consider anything greater than 17.0 cm. to be an extremely rare and seldom encountered find. And of coarse any specimen in that range will probably wind up in Japan or Germany. Also, one has to be VERY careful in purchasing these "busters" as unscrupulous dealers sometimes "toy" with large ones to gain mm. and inflate price.
