The brethren of the Net. Having a pint and talking about their captures in the New Forest England during the early part of the 20th Century. What a wonderful image and many thanks to Amy of Watkins and Doncaster.

I do not see any specimens on the table. The empty pints must be pre-collecting pints for the day.

Notice their collecting bags on their shoulders I expect their specimens were safely stored in those. Most collectors were about early but perhaps they are taking a break during a hot day's collecting .

I noticed the bags, but they are not sweating yet. Before and after pints are always good! I have collected in New Forest, but do not remember if we had anything to drink that day. We may have missed out on part of the fun...................

Note what people wear those old days to go for collecting trips. I can't imagine my self jumping and running in the forest wearing the suit and tie. Great picture .

In those days, Gentleman British collectors in their native country, always wore ties and Jackets. Notice the confident young man looking at the camera with the trilby hat, he has leather gaiters, good to deter the New Forest ticks. The New Forest was once, one of Britain's most famous collecting localities. I wonder what their catch was that day.
