Damn shame they died out in the UK l heard a few years ago someone tried to introduce the map butterfly to the new forest in Hampshire but someone got jealous and destroyed the colony. To be honest l cant see why they shouldn't be in the UK there nettle feeders after all.

See this story for the recent Swanage episode about Map butterflies. collector-secret.proboards.com/thread/658/great-british-map-butterfly-sitcomI have not heard of a New Forest introduction for this species but they were introduced many years ago to the Forest of Dean and for a time the Maps thrived that is until a collector A.B. Farn who did not believe in such things exterminated them during 1915.
