Cydalima perspectalis, a Crambidae, not Geometridae. They have unfortunately been introduced to Europe from Asia recently.

Well Cydalima perspectalis has also invaded NW France as I have found today some caterpillars on one of my Buxus. The 3 August 2015 in Fréhel, Brittany.
There were about 10 of them on a small Buxus.
Here is a close-up, they are about 4 cm large
And here you can see how they damage the Buxus, on the left the Buxus is healthy, on the right it is eaten and dried by the caterpillars

I have been told by local entomologists that this is the first record of Cydalima perspectalis in the Cotes d'Armor area. Should be all over W. Europe soon.

I founds dozen of Cydalima perspectalis caterpillars (Crambidae) on buxus bushes in the garden where I was last July in Marseille (South of France). They can eat all the leaves within a night. A true pleague !

Some one told me that the only way to fight this pest ( Cydalima perspectalis) is to use a biologic insecticid :

My mother has put a chemical insecticide on her infected Buxus. I checked it 2 days later and found 15 live caterpillars that I removed manually.
Birds do not eat them neither as these caterpillars are toxic...
This moth will soon become VERY common in Europe...

This year has shown a huge increase of Cydalima perspectalis population in Europe.
In some places, it even became an issue not only for Buxus but for all inhabitants. An example from French Alpes in Savoie:
The small Buxus of my mother in Bretagne had again about 50 caterpillars on it that I removed manually.
An interesting article in French about efficient treatments against Cydalima perspectalis : Pyrale du buis : traitement efficace.
