South of Kaeng Krachan is mostly rather dry forest I am afraid, at least until you get past Chumporn Province down in the peninsula. There are patches of good butterfly habitat, but mostly the 'rain forest' is on the Burmese side of the mountains along the border. That is why many southern species can reach even as far as Bangladesh along the Burmese coast but do not go up the Gulf of Thailand coast, except where they cross back into Thailand around the Kaeng Krachan area (eg Papilio palinurus).
