Hi there,
Im new to pinning butterflies and noticed recently that many remove the abdomens of Morpho. I understand why, I also know many think it’s unnecessary. However I’m still curious if there are other kinds that also commonly are rid of their abdomens?
Thanks in advance

Hi, removal of the abdomen occurs regularly (strangely enough) only in Morphidae species. Occasionally the abdomen is removed for genital examinations. Also, if the specimen is very oily or greasy, the abdomen is separated and is enclosed separately.
