Not sure where to put this question, but as I'm in the UK the virarity of insects aren't as exotic or colourful as,let's say,Indonesian insects. If I purchase one from a shop or another seller then how do I label it since I never collected it or know anything about the place it was found or by who
Many thanks

You label it with the data that it comes with. If you purchase specimen with or without labels is up to you. Still, most stuff comes with basic data at least.

Do you have Excel and a printer? There are templates. I’ll provide a link later but want to stop you from buying any right now.

What do you mean by stopping me buying right now? I didn't want you to place an order for labels you can print at home. You will want to use acid-free, heavier stock paper, generally available at any office supply store. Colleagues, I cannot find the location of the pre-configured Excel label templates. Couldn't find them on insectnet.com. Where the heck are these? Chuck

Greetings,
I have a copy of the Excel file that I believe is the one Exoticimports is referring to. If it's the correct one, I downloaded it from InsectNet some years ago. It's been fairly useful for a number of tasks, especially for creating "header labels" for series of specimens in my collection.
If you can send me a PM with your e-mail address, I'll gladly send it to you as an attachment. I can't see a way to attach files here, only hyperlinks to images...
Cheers! Bandrow

FYI excel font from the pull down menu is bottom limited to IIRC size 7, but you can manually enter a smaller font.

Hi Wollastoni,
This is the file that I had mentioned in my earlier post - but having a link to the page is much more accessible - thank you for locating this.. I have been able to edit the formatting in the file to fit my personal needs - change fonts, change column widths and row heights, etc. It is nice that the file is not locked for editing these features - many of these kinds of tools only allow one to select a label size and enter text.
Cheers! Bandrow
