I just started a new thread called "Let's see some more hairstreaks" under the "Show your insects" heading. I'll put a photo of some Colorado hairstreaks (H. chrysalus) there in a day or two.
Cheers, jh

Here are my few Great Purple Hairstreaks from here in Western Colorado. I find them from time to time in our desert canyons.

Does anybody have pictures of their Colorado hairstreaks (Hypaurotis crysalus) that you could share with us? here are some of my Colorado Hairstreaks. They are perhaps the most beautiful butterfly in North America and the most fun to collect because of their atypical behaviors.

Thank you for sharing neominois ! Always nice to others join-in on a thread. You are a fortunate collector in that you are able to get two fantastic species of Hairstreaks near where you live.
I do have a very nice pair of the Colorado Hairstreak which a friend from Colorado gave to me since he had a nice series of them in his collection.

Even though jhyatt has a "killer" series of this butterfly; I thought nonetheless that I would still post the ONE fine (male) example which I have of Alcides halesus. This magnificent fellow was collected by a close friend (an apprentice collector) whilst on a collecting foray with me in Georgia (1995). He gifted it to me and we spent a couple hours looking for others but, alas to no avail.
