I think permission was given before the first book was published, so at that stage there weren't any reviews. I am not sure whether it was withdrawn before or after publication of the first book.

A colleague from Malta, who was approached by Mark Payne to help, asked me to post this:
The issue with Payne is...
… that when he first wrote (at least in my case), he showed insights that appeared quite genuine initially; well-read, even. Only after his second or third email, does one start to get an uncomfortable feeling about his pushiness, which can even be interpreted as over-enthusiasm. When, then, he starts to divulge information about his various local collaborators, you then realise that the fellow is ether naive, amateur, not scientifically thorough or downright potty!
Regarding his use of secondary material, I suppose that once published by third parties, it’s in the public domain and I doubt we have any right to stop him using our (published) contributions AS LONG as he paraphrases and cites appropriately.
