"Brethren of the net" unite; I need help in identifying this Nymphalid... I captured it in the "Yungas" of Bolivia on May.27.1989 Have had it all these years without identification. Flashy little number and the only one I came across. I don't have any of the D'abrera S.American series and nothing up to date. So can anybody get me to at least genus? Thank you ! (Trehopr1)

I checked my copy of D'Abrera, and perhaps it is Perisama philinus or philimus - D'Abrera uses both spellings!
A photo of the underside would help.
Adam.

D'Abrera has many errors in that genus (among so many others). I have a copy of Attal's monograph; as Adam said, if you can post a photo of the underside, I can check it.

According Attal' The Genus Perisama, seems to be :
Perisama philinus philinus Doubleday, male, from Caranavi area (Northern Yungas) - Southern Peru & Bolivia (Plate 7 and page 67)

I have this from Tingo Maria, Peru. I've labeled it as P.philinus descimoni. But after looking at this topic and other photos online i think maybe this might be the nominate ssp. aswell?

According Attal, subspecies descimoni flies in Northern Peru. It's P. philinus saussurei (Guénée) who inhabits Tingo Maria. Actually, your sample matches very well with saussurei (plate 7).
