The other night I caught a "late night" showing of the movie (remake) King Kong on television. In the movie, Carl Denham of coarse captures Kong and brings him to New York and toutes him as the "8th Wonder of the World". This phrase gave me pause for thought and I therefore wondered what members would consider to be the "8 great wonders of the butterfly world".... So, to have a fun moment here on the forum give this idea some of your brief consideration and tell us what butterfly species YOU THINK are the greatest ones amongst those 20,000+ species of diurnal wonders ! Below is my listing... So, come and have a "light moment" of fun.... (no particular order/just what comes to mind...)
1. Ornithoptera alexandrae
2. Teinopalpus imperialis
3. Agrias narcissus
4. Phoebis avelleneda
5. Bhutanitis lidderdalii
6. Morpho absoloni
7. Ornithoptera paradisea
8. Parnassius eversmanni
Of coarse, if butterflies are not your special liking but, moths or even beetles are than "come and play along" and tell us what is on your list !
