From time to time we all like to "upgrade" some things we may have in our collection. Replace it that is, with something "bigger or better" than that which we already have. I recently purchased this pair of Elephant beetle (Megasome elephas) from a collection up for sale. These were the only examples present so I presume the previous owner was always pretty proud of what he kept for himself. The species is a common one amongst beetle collections and it may very well be THE most commonly seen species of the Megasoma clan. However, real "busters" of the species are closely guarded by most who come to own them. There are lots of the average "joe" specimens out there because I have honestly seen plenty of them. However, when you run across a male like this measuring 13.5cm (or more) and it's width is slightly wider than the palm of your hand; its time to think about a possible upgrade if a purchase or trade can be made...
