A collector friend of mine captured this really unique species of Katydid while in Ecuador. It arrived at his Mercury vapor light set-up and was the only one he saw on his 10 day trip. It resides in his collection and while there I photographed it at an angle to show the greatly exaggerated and spatula shaped ovipositor this creature possesses. Sorry, for the somewhat poor picture quality but, lighting was not the best and this a picture from my Ipad. It has a wing expanse of a little over 5 inches. I just love these crazy kind of weird things you see (from time to time) on different insects
