What do you use to hold down wings when spreading?
I am just learning. I have been using cardstock strips to hold the wings down initially, then putting glass slides on top once they are spread out.

I lightly press with my finger on top of cellophane until I pin wings around. I position the wing with flat, smooth forceps. For some Sphingidae or Charaxinae I pin minuten pin size 0.15 thru forewings upper vein to hold on place until dry. The pin hole is not visible after. |

Cardstock is apt to remove scales. I use the same glassine strips for "pre-pinning" as I do for the final pinning, or cellophane would work OK too. Don't use mylar or other plastic, as this has a static charge and many scales will be lost.
