I've been sitting on this for a while. I'm looking for constructive feedback before I start (slowly) making more of these. I was originally thinking of making some sort of website but I've realized I don't have the time to to build, maintain, and update something like that... so maybe I'll just release a series of pdf files or something. Anyways, please tear this apart. I'd like it to be as useful and clear as possible. Is it necessary to label "recto" and "verso"? Or is that obvious enough?

Seems a nice set up to me. I think recto and verso are perfectly fine, better that upperside and underside for a plate. Most authors I believe distinguish their figures, so people know what their looking at. Top notch photography, certainly more than good enough for any publication.

Better to use dorsal and ventral rather than recto and verso. bobw can give chapter & verse on the reasons why recto/verso does not really apply to specimens (they are apparently printers' terms for the opposing sides of a page) but became popular after Bd'A used them in his books. I think it looks great. It's probably not necessary to specify R/V or D/V, but since there is room and doesn't create a cluttered look IMO, no harm in including it.

I don’t think it is necessary also, I would just use only letter “v” if so. Plate looks great though.

PS. Good to hear you are okey and congrats for new baby.

Great photos and the presentation is fine. But scale bars would be great. Not knowing these bugs, I can't tell if the smaller ones are really smaller, or just lower resolution.

Adam. Maybe "recto/verso" is also a French language thing? I grew up using those terms in various applications. I think I'll do a mock up without the labelling to see if what's being presented it's still clear.

very nice plate, for book publishing quality Despite we yet discussed about that and the interpretation following language, I agrre that for publishing it is better to put V(entral) and D(ordal)
An update of Berger's book is in need .. may you can accept to be in charge with plates ? Ent afr is the editor (some collectors agreed to participate to the project)

Adam. I'm not getting involved in that argument again. Suffice it to say that I would never use these terms. Bob

If I copy the image and paste it into a photo editor - then I can barely see the 1 X 1 grid that underlies the photos. I'd just stick a singular scale bar in there and be done with it. j

Just wondering, did you bring all your specimens to Canada or you left them in Africa in some safe place.
