After just one day of snow the UK is almost at a standstill. Hardly any buses, the trains and planes are delayed or not running. Is this the once Great Britain.

I have been out in the garden feeding the birds, surprising what you can see in a small urban garden, I had the beautiful Grey Wagtail, normally a bird of fast flowing streams and Fieldfares, a big wintering thrush from Scandinavia, a Blackcap, probably a winter visitor from Germany, and others. Quite a cosmopolitan little gathering. If I was visiting anywhere I go somewhere warm. Its snowing hard again now, spring and insects here seem far away, its been a hell of a long northern winter.

It's been a strange winter here. In December, it was -15 to -25 C for about 2 weeks. Mostly warmer since then, with a lot of up and down, sometimes VERY warm (i.e. about 10-15 C at times). Large amounts of snow, then melting, then returning, over and over. Last week there was very heavy rain, causing a lot of flooding. This week is pleasant for a change. I'm more than ready for spring!

I agree Nomad,it has been a long Winter, and a cold one for recent years. With the recent snow it was nice to see so many people out on foot and not so many cars on the road for a change. All back to normal now though.
