My friend Robert Dessy is breeding some Carabus beetles to develop rare forms. Here are some interesting pictures to show the different stages of a Carabus auronitens (black form) from the egg to the imago.

Very nice,
It would be fantastic to hear more about Carabus beetles rearing and collecting.
I know there is an assortment of localized rare species here in sichuan but ive had little sucess in finding any. Ive tried pitfall traps, and light traps but only caught common species.
Also I would love to try rearing Carabus, any chance youre able to post more in regards to how to breed these?
Kind regards, Ed

Ed it would be indeed nice to see more beetle posts but please add a insect picture for an avatar instead of that greedy hosting company. It only takes a minute to change.
