Splendid pictures Jean-Marc, thank you for sharing your adventures with us !
One advice : To display in big your pictures on the forum, you should use the button. It will look much better like this :
and it will be free for the ICF. Proboards charge us for attachments.

Pterourus neyi neyi (Niepelt, 1909) or more probably Pterourus zagreus batesi T. Racheli & L. Racheli, 1996, female. September 30 - Puerto Nariño (Amazonas) – Trail to San Martín de Amacayacu – 3°46’54.74’’S/70°21’23.65’’O – 99 m asl Dear Jean-Marc, it's a very interesting specimen of Pterourus zagreus. I'd like to see a photo of the set specimen, because its dark pattern on HWs is reminiscent of ssp. baueri, described by Möhn on 2001 from Cutuà, nahe Ega (=Tefé). In any case it is a male, not a female. Have a look at the tip of the abdomen, where open valvae are visible.

From the same picture, the butterfly was first determined by a colombian butterflies specialist (the author of the book Butterflies of Colombia) as neyi female. Back in Paris, I got some trouble with this sample which does not match exactly with the But. of Am. pictures. I can't provide good new photos for the moment since the butterfly is on the spreading board. I'll do it asap. The butterfly was mud-puddling and collected exactly at the same place on a muddy little stream bank where an other picture shows H. garleppi. As usual, several species of genus Marpesia were also mud-puddling there. On the following picture : left : Pterourus ascolius ascolius from Otanche area (Magadalena Valley) right : P. zagreus from the Puerto Narino area (Amazon)

I agree with Maurizio it does look like a male from the photo posted at the top of the thread, and if it was collected mud-puddling it is very unlikely to be female. Please do post photos after it is removed from the board.
Adam.

Yes it works only if the picture is already hosted somewhere on the web. I thought they were already on www.lepido-france.fr To host your pictures for free on the web, you can use Flickr or www.imgur.com who work well.

I have received from Jean-Marc the photos of his zagreus, and have discussed about it with Tommy Racheli: we have concluded that it is Pterourus zagreus batesi, of which P. zagreus baueri might be a synonym.

The Pterourus zagreus batesi was mud-puddling at the same place that this Heraclides garleppi. September, 30, 2017 - Puerto Nariño (Amazonas) – Path to San Martín de Amacayacu – 3°46’54.74’’S/70°21’23.65’’O – 99 m asl.
