I like collecting Carabus during winter in Europe. Last December I spent few days in Haute Savoie in the French Alpes.
Inside a pine forest, I digged into few dead trunks to find this jewel : Carabus auronitens. Carabus invernate in those dead trunks or below mousses.
Its green-red-gold reflects make it a real treasure !

This is here the normal form of Carabus auronitens. French populations of Carabus auronitens are worldwide famous for their unique variations, some of them being very rare.
