Always a pleasure seeing this one --- especially this subspecies. Lovely shade of yellow and such grand large eyespots. Was curious to know how a specimen of Lord Rothschild's ever found it's way into private hands and out of his museum? Have always been under the assumption that everything pertaining to his museum was bequeathed to the British museum for safekeeping. Unless, of coarse he raised or collected some of these and passed them along to friends or family. Can you give us any background on these privately held specimens?

The label on the Rothschild specimen looks genuine. Of course some specimens were exchanged with other people, both private individuals and institutions, so Rothschild material is in other peoples' hands now. Also quite a lot of material went to Charles Rothschild, much of that ended up at Harrow School when Charles gave them his collection, but not all. The Harrow School collection was sold only a few years ago, I understand to someone in northern England. I had the pleasure of examining it back in the 1970s with Eric Laithwaite.
Adam.
