To answer one of the questions, Evans (1932) gives the range of C.d.nicholi (sic) as going from Assam to Dawnas (= northern Tenasserim), and that of C.d.merguia from Tavoy to S Burma (= from central Tenasserim south.
Now, what I am interested in is the reference to Assam. Evans must have seen a specimen from there, but apart from his mentioning it in the range of nicholii, I haven't found any other reference to its occurence there.
Would anyone know anything more about its occurrence in Assam, which in Evans's day could have meant anywhere in northeastern India (east of Bangladesh)?
Thanks for any answer.
