Very nice specimens, nicely presented micros Do you specialize in these smaller moths.

Really nice preparation job! Would you like to share your spreading technique? Are you using blocks, or perhaps the foam-lined box method? I never seem to end up with legs still attached to my specimens.
Cheers, jh

Pyralidae are curious looking little fellows. I know I see a number of species around my area every summer. The trick to them however, is fresh pinning them for the best results. Very tedious work. I'd be inclined to collect up some of them (field pin them) and send them along to you sometime but, I'm not so sure if you are able to work on them very well once dried and than re-hydrated --- and still get good results.

These are Oecophoridae, this can be seen in the wing shape and the intricate mouth morphology.
Very nice, thanks for sharing. Very well set, and good pictures. I wish more people would be into microlepidoptera.

Pleurotas can be recognized by long "nose" with an apical spine. These moths are suprisingly badly known, and there seems to be nobody who can identify them. So, I decided to focus on them 2 years ago. The fauna is especially rich in the Mediterranean area, and many new species can be found. They are often abundant where they occur, and many species are day-active. So, if you encounter these moths, please, collect them. I need material from different areas for DNA-studies.

I stand corrected on the family name I mentioned. I appreciate the insight regarding the mouthparts and wing structure. Always something new to learn on this forum every day...
