www.express.co.uk/news/world/745567/Snow-Sahara-Desert-first-time-37-years-AlgeriaApparently for the first time since 37 years it has snowed in Algeria in the desert, some amazing pictures there. What do you think will be the effect on butterflies next summer? From Michel Tarrier I read that it has been raining a lot this winter in Moroocco which is good, probably also in Algeria, it seems next summer will be great for lepidoptera in North Africa.

I spent two years in Algeria (1972-1974) and I saw, at least, twice the desert under snow around Biskra and Toggourt. Since the snow desappeared, the desert was covered by thousands flowers. Amazing !

I saw the rain in April in the Saharah (about 10 years ago). The day after, the sahara was indeed covered of white and yellow flowers with many Euchloea freshly eclosed. It was splendid !
