Dear members,
You should receive an email from the I.C.F. about the yearly donation. As you know, the forum is growing month after month with an incredible amount and quality of information. The only issue is that the proboards monthly fee also increases month after month (they charge me for attachments and for the number of visits, both are increasing strongly). So those of you who find the ICF useful and who can afford it, a small donation would be appreciated. BTW we also accept huge donations...
Below is the email that you should receive, if proboards email isn't blocked by your anti-spam. Here is the link if you are interested : www.collector-secret.com/index.php/advertise/donate/donate-insect-collectors-forum
I would add that the best donation you can make is posting new interesting topics here !
Dear worthy members of the Insect Collectors' Forum,
Our forum will soon be two-year old and is encountering a tremendous success! The quality of the contents, its friendly mood and its international dimension has made it one of the most visited insect websites today. I would like to thank you all for this !
Due to its success though, I will have to increase the monthly hosting fees that I am paying to ProBoards for attachments and daily visits.
Along with many other insect websites, I think the Insect Collectors' Forum is a useful tool to diffuse and share our passion and a friendly place for insect collectors.
If you think that the Insect Collectors' Forum is useful, you can help us pay our increasing hosting fees with a small Paypal donation (even 10 USD can help), here is the link : www.collector-secret.com/index.php/advertise/donate/donate-insect-collectors-forum/.
Donors will receive the 5-star "Great Aurelian - Supporter" status on the Forum.
Thank you all
Olivier - wollastoni Administrator of the Insect Collectors' Forum collector-secret.proboards.com

Olivier, I would like to run an idea past you, admin and moderators and of course ICF members to see if this would be a possibility.
I for one love this site and would like to help out a little with the running costs but I am unfortunately operating on a very tight budget, especially as my credit card seems to be constantly maxed out and I'm constantly having to miss out on specimens I want as a result, finding the annual fee for my website is enough ( and that's not very much to be honest), however, I do have many hundreds of surplus specimens lying about in the freezer, and I am breeding a few again, so how about us members donating a few surplus specimens to be auctioned off, either through the website if that's possible or through a member on eBay with proceeds going to ICF running costs. If there is a member with time enough to do this, with my shift patterns I rarely sell on eBay anymore as I struggle to get to the post office to ship them, specimens can be donated to them to list. An ICF donation specimens page could be added to the forum, members add a photo of a specimen/specimens with a buy it now price, 50% goes to ICF and 50% to the member which will more than cover shipping costs etc.
I'm sure many members have surplus specimens lying about that they will never get to set, this would be an opertunity to move them on and help keep this site running for years.
I would be interested in your thoughts to see if this could actually work.

Rich
First of all, thank you for your words and for the proposal.
Unfortunately I doubt any of us would have the time to do so...
About donation, if a member spends a lot of time on the ICF, donating 1% of his yearly spendings in insect trade would largely cover the hosting fees.

Yes, very true Olivier, time is a major issue, what spare time we have we spend setting some of the specimens we've amassed over the years. I have had a very successful breeding season with the Pieris cheiranthi, just over 200 specimens on the boards with some very nice, dark females and 2 very interesting ABB's, when they are off the boards I will have a sort through them and donate a few specimens towards raising money for ICF, I'll put them on eBay with 50% of the takings going to ICF. There was an A1- female sold recently for just over £20 so these ex-pupae specimens should attract some interest, and ICF members can do their bit knowing they will get some nice specimens and help out this site.

I'd like to thank those of us who have sent a little donation. 52% of our 2017 need in hosting fees are now covered.
I will announce later this week a big news which should help cover the rest of our need, and ensure a safe future to the ICF.
And of course, I take the opportunity to thank again each of you for the incredible quality of content you're putting everyday on the ICF, which is ,to my mind, the most interesting and most friendly insect forum I know (I'm biased, I know )

Hi, Is prepaid debit card accepted on this proboards site? I think donations are through PayPal, so if you have an account set up you can use which ever card is registered with them as your preferred method. I apologise I have not got around to listing the promised Pieris chieranthi specimens to raise funds towards ICF, I have been very busy of late and now with Christmas fast approaching I will wait untill the new year when I have more time, and people have spare cash for specimens rather than festive expenditures. Rich P.S I shall be listing 10-15 pairs at a buy it now price of £20 per pair (shipping extra) of this £20, £10 goes towards ICF and the other £10 pays eBay and PayPal fees and the remainder goes towards the cages, greenhouse etc etc that I have bought for my rearing projects. I shall also put some on as auctions.

I completely forgot about this. Work and all is taking away my time for entomology. I would still like to donate. I assume it is still possible?
