I enjoy seeing historical specimens and material from famous old dealers and collectors. I own a modest number, including the odd Meek bug. But I don't recall ever seeing a butterfly described as having been obtained from the firm of Staudinger and Bang-Haas.
Does anyone know whether material purchased from the Staudinger firm included any sort of "ex coll." label? Or is Staudinger material usually impossible to identify as such? In other words, is there a recognizable Staudinger label?
Cheers, jh

Cheers, jh Your posting reminded me of an insect shipping box I had seen among the many insect shipping boxes I have seen at the May Natural History Museum that have been retained by the May family over the generations. Here is a photo of the stampings/labels in the lid. I'd say that the late Jack May was trading/buying from Staudinger. I'm on the lookout for specimens in the collection with their label and will post photos when I find them. Jim
