I remember Peter being in the collections for a few months in the summer, in fact I had to identify a few drawers of mixed Troides for him. This will be an invaluable resource for researchers.

I also use Google Chrome, and have noticed that certain parts of the page above and sometimes below the threads are enlarged, sometimes a wide blank space, sometimes the blue strip enlarges, but I hadn't noticed any other issues. Adam. I've had the same for the last few days.

I had a short search this morning and found plenty of eggs but no larvae, I reckon they must get picked off pretty quickly.

Just spent a pleasant morning sitting by the hotel pool watching Graphium agamemnon splattering eggs all over the place.

Bob kindly warned me with an apology that he would not be able to visit Chiang Mai this time. bobw - be careful of malaria on Koh Chang, it is one of the few places where it is still present in Thailand. Adam. Cheers Adam, I'll be extra careful to spray. Second night here and I've managed to avoid being bitten so far, that's good for me as I usually attract the little sods more than most!

I do still have a copy of the catalogue and I tried to scan some pages when this thread first opened, but every page generated an 8mb pdf file so they were too big to post. I'm on holiday in Thailand and then at the Frankfurt show until 5th November so I could do nothing until then anyway. Bob, will you be doing some collecting in Thailand during your holidays? Paul Paul No, just tourism with a few friends so no time for collecting. I'm in Koh Chang at the moment and we're taking an excursion into the hills on Tuesday so hopefully I'll see something interesting. Bob

It would be interesting to see some pages from one of Smart's catalogues listing his butterflies for sale. I did have some, but they disappeared with much else a lifetime ago, so it you have his old catalogues, be a good chap and do a scan, and let's see them here. I would really enjoy those. When I was recurating some of the Castniidae in the Natural History Museum in London a couple of weeks ago I noticed that several of the Duboisvalia types have the same Larsen labels as your specimens. His specimens were obviously well shared around.

I find these USB microscopes indispensable. I use them all the time for checking the frenulum to sex moths and for checking to see if eggs are fertile.

Why would anybody glue part of a forewing of a different species onto a hindwing? Surely anyone would notice this!
A couple of years ago I asked him a question for more detailed data on a specimen he listed on eBay. He responded that people who ask such questions are always very difficult and asked me not to bid on any of his auctions!
A friend of mine exchanged a specimen with him at a fair a couple of years ago, he's now listing it on eBay with different data to that it was supplied with!
