Yes, just near Gibilmanna's sanctuary, there are many big Quercus ! Very interesting for Osmoderma, Protaetia speciosissima, Cerambyx welensii, etc...

The N° 1, 2 and 3 are C. aurata pisana (the blue one is form leonii), but the last one is Protaetia (Netocia) morio. In this place, you should have seen some nice black forms of C. aurata pisana (they are always metallic, whereas P. morio is not). The col de Vizzavona is very rich in melanic forms of C. aurata pisana ... Here, two variations of C. aurata sicula from... Sicily ! Stephane VASSEL : Italie : Gibilmanna : 00000 : 11/07/2015 Altitude : 700 m - Taille : 22 mm

Hi,
The colours seem to be the result of : - Environnemental reasons (temperature, height, hygrometry, ...) - Genetic reasons
According to my experience, black specimens are really uncommon in C. aurata aurata (they are more common in ssp. pisana).

Any idea of the size ?
Hard to be 100% sure without good under and upper side views. Aedeagus could be great too...
But, it should be Protaetia (Miksicus) acuminata (Fabricius, 1775)with 90% of chance to be right...

The diffusion seems to be "confidential" : 50 samples printed, with 20-25 for museums and specialists, the other are sold to other entomologists... According to Wikipedia, if you want a N°, you have to contact P. Arnaud ...
Strange strange...

Indeed, it was really "short" !
Besoiro is a periodical created and published by Patrick Arnaud since 1995. The publications are about Scarabaeoidea (Rutelidae, Lucanidae, Cetoniidae, Scarabaeidae, ...).
I have sent some mails to P. Arnaud, but without any answer. And these publications aren't available for sale in Pemberley books, Abe books, etc...
That's really a problem because many new species are described and that's very hard to work without them... And many colleagues are in the same situation... So sad !!

Hi,
I am looking for Besoiro, which is (was ?) published by P. Arnaud. Have you some ideas where I can buy them ?

Oooops,
I have post my first subject before seeing this thread !
So, I am Stéphane, French entomologist, from a lost department in Center France : Creuse (here, we have more cows than inhabitants !).
I am particularly interested in Cetoniidae from the world (but mainly from Paleractic and Asian areas).
Hope this forum will grow and become one of the best !!
Regards,
Stéphane
