"Biocrap"...I ordered 600insect pins and they want to charge me for shipping from California to Toronro ...$72CAN. After I made a call and asked if they are shipping from Moon those pins, they explain that it was mistake in email and shipping will cost me $28CAN. I asked them why so much ? Is it going to come to me next day, that is why ? No sir it takes 7 to 10 business days. I cancelled order and made new order at Paradox in Poland. Paid for shipping from Poland to Toronto $7CAN and pins arrived in 10 days . Never will order from Biocrap again .

On June 1st, I sent an email to Bioquip's customer service asking for suggestions on fixing this issue. Since I have yet to receive a response/acknowledgment from them, I just sent a 2nd email. Judging by Paul's post, chances are they will want you to buy a new one and charge a small fortune for shipping to RDC. Adam.

I assumed the reason for the cost was the weight of the net handle.

Well, I got a response back from them. They offered to swap the "defective handle" for a new one... I think they missed the part where I'm in the middle of Africa. I reiterated my request for suggestions on how I could fix the handle itself.

So... , I've been researching the issue. Here's a web page that shows you a crude look at what is inside the "cam" lock. www.testrite.com/browse/telescoping-aluminum-tubing/ . Click on item "c" and you will get a close-up. Not real informative - but it looks like it is two off-set round things that "lock" the tubes into position when twisted. I'm not sure that you can hurt anything in there - and I've wondered if you shoot it full of water - if that would break the problem free (while not screwing up anything once it dries out). As the proud owner of two screwed up BioQuip Handles - just wondering.... In the meantime - I'm getting a quote from this other company for a "A-NR" model that is otherwise similar in length to the BioQuip dimensions. I'll let you know what they say price wise. And if I buy one - I'll give you my evaluation. John

Wow - in five minutes they got back to me - $150 net for the handle(no pun intended). I think I'll do it.

And if I buy one - I'll give you my evaluation. I'm sure I'm not the only who's curious how this will turn out... and it seems like they're willing to design to needed specs. I'm looking forward to your evaluation. Hopefully their construction is strong enough to hold up to the rigours of collecting. As for the existing net handles: will you be trying to clean one out as you suggested? If I had more than just the one here, I'd give it a try... but at the moment I'm worried of irreparably damaging my sole telescopic handle when it is still at least functional.

Update: Bioquip has apparently sent a replacement handle to my Canadian address. Their rep. said there may have been an issue in the production of the last batch of handles. Although it may be a while before I get my hands on that handle, it is a satisfactory response from them.
