I enjoyed the Ornithoptera croesus video and the team were certainly dedicated and achieved their lifetime desire to see Wallace's Golden Birdwing and what wonders these butterflies are and what excitement they must have felt in seeing the butterflies in their native habitat.
Interesting that O. croesus also occurs up a mountain because its ssp lydius I believe likes swampy forest in Halmahera. The guy in the Paris museum showed Jean-Marc a drawing of a native shooting Ornithoptera chimaera for A.S. Meek but did the latter really obtain his specimens using such a method which would have resulted in damaged specimens. Of course he did not, his series are fine often perfect specimens caught at the blossom trees.
Wallace's labels showed latitude and longitude? where he obtained his specimens and the French team mention they were going to visit the area where Wallace made his glorious discovery. This is not true, they did not because Wallace never went anywhere near a remote mountain in the interior while he was in Bacan (he called it Batchian). He stayed in a house near the coast and the coal mines among Coconut trees. He discovered O. croesus in primary forest not far from the beach where he also discovered his new bird of paradise Wallace's Standard Wing.
One wonders if the French guys had to make that long trek to that mountain to see the birdwing, why? was it because croesus has now declined on that Island. How were those aerial shots obtained, did they have a drone or more likely a helicopter? and how did they keep those cameras with their long lens dry, swimming through those rivers, were they in watertight bags?. I wonder what the source-locality was, is, for all the hundreds-thousands of the nominate croesus that have found there way to dealers? over the years. thoughts?.

I think the long treck in the mountains is part of the "story" to entertain normal viewers... if they catch croesus near Labuha airport, it would be less impressive did they have a drone or more likely a helicopter? Aerial shots seems to be helicopter shots. how did they keep those cameras with their long lens dry, swimming through those rivers, were they in watertight bags?. They must be 40 people behind them carrying food, materials and so on. To give you an example, when I was in Papua with a team of 5 entomologists, we had about 10 locals carrying the material (so imagine with a TV shooting set) Maybe Jacques as the email of Jean-Marc Sor and could ask him to give us some answers. Their movie is beautiful and must have thrilled many viewers and maybe convert some of them to become entomologists.

I agree, the O. croesus footage and biotype footage was breathtaking. I also think that it reiterates the need for highly experienced guides (did you notice that one of them had sandals in the Jungle for the entire trip). Another factor is that someone always owns the land and you need their permission. I am guessing that as well as the permission of the spirits of their ancestors you will need to make a very good contribution to the village funds.

I like this film a lot. It was very instructive to hear Miyashita and Mickael Hudson. BTW is Miyashita still selling insects, does he have a website ? I have found the website seen in the film: www.pa-m.com/
