Check the prices on Abebooks Peter. You will find some versions at 500 USD which is expensive, but highly worth it for the content of this exceptional book if you can afford it.
For second hand books, Abebooks is far better than Amazon. By the time I got home from work yesterday and saw this post, the cheapest copy at 500 US was sold. . You did Pemberley Books a favour but unfortunately I did not see this in time. They have just confirmed it was sold yesterday. I am not going to pay those other ridiculous prices at the link for the other copies.

Good luck to whoever bought this book, hopefully will not see it back on Abe books at 1500-2000 dollars anytime soon.

Lucky you !
Since 2005, this book is very hard to find below 1000€. From time to time, Pemberley or Topduck are selling some copies around 500/700€.
I was lucky enough to buy my copy around 2010 from an English entomologist around 300/400€.
As this book is fantastic, few collectors would be ready to sell it. You have to wait for someone to die to see it reappear in entomological bookshops.

Yes, I have heard a fantastic book but I know one thing that would irritate me, Parsons calling Meek Alfred instead of Albert. You would have thought that he would have least have got the great Papuan collectors name right. After all he discovered so many of the butterflies in the book.

Well, I guess it is a "typo". Parsons is very knowledgeable. It is a huge book and there are very few errors.
One Delias is wrongly identified too although he is a Delias specialist

I have the book of butterflies of the Bulolo-Wau Valley. That book is awesome and makes me wish I could go to Papua-New Guinea to collect.
