Excellent photos, many thanks, I take it neither of you (Olivier and Peter) were interested in the middle box of Delias? Too common for you both?
I can't quite make out the form or price of the Ornithoptera bornemanni pair with the male with gold spots, I've only ever seen one other gold spotted male of this sub species (assuming it still is a sub species) that's in drawer 12 of my Ornithoptera cabinet.
Finally, what the hell are those Papilio ulysses and blumei ??

Rich Just a quick reply before I head off to bed to catch up on my sleep, they are Papilio ulysses where some scales were removed with a brush or something. I think they appeared like 5 years ago on insect fairs. When they first came out people were crazy about them, 2 years afterwards "everybody" had them for sale, and now they vanished again into oblivion

Hey Olivier, by the way I asked my "man on the ground" at the fair to get me something special. So he showed me a photo of that Delias case with that "big Bertha" Delias mayersferi in it for 895 euro. He said the problem was that off to the side this British gent and some young French guy in his 30's were arm wrestling for the privilege of ownership of that specimen. So I said well --- best not to get between two lions and their meat. Better find me something else. Don't suppose you saw those two fellows when you were there? Ha ha. Once again, all that stuff was just top notch. Was wondering if much of that beetle work was Mr. Porion's. If it was than he would pretty much be my one stop shop for just about anything I wanted.

Well, internet is crushingly slow here this morning. Took a couple of hours for all of those photos to load. It was completely worth it. Thanks for posting!

Yes all drawers with the grey contour are Thierry Porion's.
More than a brilliant insect seller, an artist !

What a wonderful event EntoModena is. The Italians know how to do Entomology in style. The fair this year was huge. Hall one contained Shell vendors, Equipment suppliers and a number of Coleoptera vendors and a range of interesting displays. In hall two, there were many vendors from many counties. All without exception allowed there insects to be photographed, so a big thank you to them. I was pleased to meet new and old entomological friends. Having just arrived home, I will show my images to join Olivier's wonderful photos when I can. I have quite a few so will add them a few at a time. I attended both days and Sunday also drew the crowds. Elsewhere on another forum there is a thread that mentions Insect collecting might be dying out, not so and not true, take a look at Halls one and Two at EntoModena.

Shown by Olivier and again here because I was allowed to photograph this almost mythical butterfly in the flesh, without the glass. It is the first specimen of this great rarity I have seen for sale.

A nice box of Ornithoptera with the nominate paradisea, it sold hence the upside down label and had vanished on the Sunday. I saw one from the same vendor a few years ago but then it was half the price!!
