Inspired by Nomad's recent post about a, perhaps surprisingly, overlooked butterfly book, I'd like to draw everyone's attention to "Nabokov's Blues" by Kurt Johnson and Steve Coates. It's been out for a long while, but I only stumbled across it by chance a couple of years ago. I think it got more publicity and promotion Stateside than it did in Europe at the time.
It's a brilliant read, weaving together the threads of Nabokov's own life-story, his entomological passion, the lack of recognition he got from many of his peers during his lifetime, and the collective evolving understanding of the taxonomy of South American lycaenidae. It's part biography and part scientific detective story. A non-fiction page-turner!

Indeed a fascinating book !
I especially loved the part about the taxonomy and evolution of South American Polyomatinae. I read it 10 years ago, but your post makes me want to re-read it. Thanks.
