Here is a nice pair of this super Large Blue . I bought them at the recent AES, I saw them at Juvisy but not in this condition. This pair are from Primorye Kray in Far Eastern Russia.

Here's a nice series from the same locality showing the variation. The race from North Korea is much darker, especially the females, but who would want to risk going there? Bob

About 30km from where the arionides were caught was another locality where there were just a few arionides, but this site also had the lovely little M. kurentzovi. Bob

Nice specimens Bob, I did not see the M. kurentzovi on your stall with the arionides. What is the habitat of arionides.

Nice specimens Bob, I did not see the M. kurentzovi on your stall with the arionides. What is the habitat of arionides. No, I didn't take any M. kurentzovi to the show; they were only just starting to fly when I went to the spot and I only took a few males. Tuzov gives the habitat of arionides as wet meadows and kurentzovi as dry meadows. The main site where I found arionides was in wide rides in huge forests and the kurentzovi (along with a few arionides) were in somewhat narrower rides in forests. The arionides site was just below a ski resort and I heard that they were also flying on the ski slopes above. arionides locality

Very nice habitat images Bob, thank you for sharing those. Seems a very interesting area. I did not know you actually went there yourself. You certainly do get around.

Why will it only let me add one photo per post? If I try to attach a second one it says "You have reached the attachment limit for this post". Other people seem to be able to add five photos to a post.

does the same with me Bob, not that I can post pictures any more as my camera will not connect to the computer. I have a very large female arionides I bought from Dave Moore a while back.

Not sure why that happens Bob, sometimes it does the same with me, a fault with proboards I expect. Perhaps Olivier will know more?
