Googling for images of the genus brings up a few on BOLD from africaone 's collection, but no E. hewitsoni. I think you just effectively doubled the number of photographed specimens available online. including the correct spelling (sorry ... it is Euliphyra) you can find 32 picture including all species and sexes on BOLD

I had originally navigated to the genus level page for Euliphyra which for whatever reason doesn't include hewitsoni, but when I specifically searched for the species the page was found. A few Euphaedra collected within meters of where I'm standing in those previous pictures. Euphaedra (Euphaedrana) hybrida (female) Euphaedra (Euphaedrana) preussi preussi (top - male, bottom - female) Euphaedra (Euphaedrana) albofasciata (female)

Ha! That's, um, unique. I wonder if the Uganda Tourism DVD includes the Grand Canyon, Parthenon, and Eiffel Tower?

Glorious is an understatement--basically every African meme wrapped up in a neat little package. And it even has copyright, sending a clear message to other countries to "get your own scam."

Here's a couple of Lycaenids from Nebobongo: Uranothauma falkensteini (Decently common, frequently found mud-puddling, and at certain angles show a lovely purple hue.) 24/VII/2016 Near Nebobongo, Haut-Uele (2°29'N, 27°37'E) 680m Cupidesthes gabunica orientalis (My first specimen in a genus with which I have little familiarity, so there's a possibility my ID isn't correct.) 23/VII/2016 Near Nebobongo, Haut-Uele (2°28'N, 27°38'E) 760m

The Cupidesthes looks correct to me. A nice perfect specimen too.

Epitola urania ♀ (I finally caught one! It's a bit rough, but what a beauty!) 21/VII/2016 Nebobongo, Haut-Uele (2°27'N, 27°38'E) 750m Stempfferia (Cercenia) tumentia ♀ (ID is somewhat uncertain) 24/VII/2016 Nebobongo, Haut-Uele (2°27'N, 27°38'E) 750m Both were caught at the same place. I couldn't spot it, but there must have been a Crematogastor (spl?) ant nest somewhere in the trees there. I snagged a few other Epitolas there too... unfortunately, I found the spot a bit late in the day and didn't have any good opportunities to return. I wish I could have exploited it a bit more.

It may have been lucky that you found it late in the day, as the butterflies may not have been flying earlier.
Adam.

Euphaedra (Medoniana) medon fraudata ♂ (A common Euphaedra, though usually I find them quite beaten up so I'm quite happy about this one. I'm not sure if I have the subspecies correct. There seems to be some confusion as to the ranges and locations of the subspecies. Berger, in "Papillons du Zaire," and Hecq, in his revision of the genus, both point to the current ID. On the other hand, Williams, in a much more recent publication, doesn't even include D.R. Congo in the range of fraudata, and it would seem the neustetteri would be the appropriate subspecies. Unfortunately, this publication seems to suggest that the ranges of medon's various subspecies somehow crisscross... so I doubt its reliability.) 22/VII/2016 Nebobongo, Haut-Uele (2°28'N, 27°38'E) 760m
