Show off some of you favorite birdwings from your collection here. These three are my favorite ones (and the only halfway-decently spread ones) that I have. They are Ornithoptera priamus teucrus, Troides hypolitus, and Ornithoptera rothschildi.

I think my favourite Birdwing is O. paradisea of New Guinea. Whether you think certain populations are just geographical races or subspecies its nice to have a selection for your collection. Notice the odd one out in this group of males. They are top to bottom row one. 1 & 2. detanii - Timika. 3. arfakensis- Higher Arfak Mountains. ( Hopefully one day we will know by DNA if this is a good species in its own right, I would be surprised if its not. row two top to bottom. 1. chrysanthemum -Lower Arfak mountains. 2. sabinae - Nabire. 3. borchi - Maprik, Papua, H. Borch leg 1974.

Another spectacular drawer showing the nominate victoriae. I am amazed by the variation within that population.

O.Victoria has always been my favorite among the Ornithoptera. From the unique wing shape to the seeming endless variations of greens, yellows, goldens, and even shades of red (in abberants) it's spectacular throughout. If had the means and descent connections I'd probably have 10 drawers of Victoria --- at least ! The only caveat that I can think of is that the males seem more prone to (greasing up of the abdomen) than any other species.
