A female Colias croesus form helice in my collection collected by T.G. Howarth in 1947 in Kent. This was recorded as one of the best ever "Clouded Yellow" years here in Britain. Attachments:

Dave , thanks for the article and a very nice specimen. Very sad news, another passing of a great and very brave entomologist! I have his informative book ' South's British Butterflies ( 1973). The plates in Howarth's book, the early stages by R.B Davis from Frohawk's originals and the adult specimens by A.D.A Russwurm are superb.

Peter.. I sadly don't have that book but I do have the updated one re-written by T.G. Howarth containing the A.D.A Russwurm & other illustrations.. albeit reduced in size. Dave

Sad news. Funnily enough I was going through his collection yesterday at the Natural History Museum.
